After what seems an eternity, I finally changed the layout of the Jareth Fanlisting. As the first fanlisting that I created (back in the days when the Fanlistings were just starting and Janine was running the show), this is the one that I’ve never wanted to give up… but I have been quite negligent in my maintenance. I’ve become a terrible fanlisting owner during the last few years, but real life really does put a damper on webplay and fandom.
Anywho, it’s a simple design. I’m just getting back to basics for a bit. The header needs work, but it’ll do.
If you’re a Jareth or Labyrinth fan, go get listed!
It seems ages since I’ve concentrated on anything web related (ie. look at the state of my poor, neglected fanlistings, let alone my laziness with updating this blog). To remedy that and test my disused skills, I spent the afternoon designing the portfolio that I told myself I would make. It’s for my LIS materials and I plan to update it every semester. I’d like to have this as a sort of professional portfolio to present when I start job prowling when I complete my degree. It’s a simple design… I haven’t the time to do much at the moment and as it’s been so long since I’ve made a page, I find that I really do need to refresh some of those old skills.

After months of telling myself I would, I finally went up to the special collections to visit my thesis. As I work there now, it seemed like the perfect opportunity… plus, I was suckered into a field trip to the fourth floor by one of the other girls
I wish I had my camera on hand at the time, I was only able to get two very badly blurred shots with my phone (I recently cracked my phone and had to downgrade back to my old Razr, sucks for pictures).

One day, I will bind a copy of my own.
Meanwhile, Didymus has learned the joy of bubbles and having them land on one’s nose.

Yes, he is a large, silly creature
Second Life is pretty big in the education sector and they keep hyping it up among librarians. I never saw the appeal in the program, but I decided to give it a try for a communications assignment that I have to complete.
I hate it. I have no patience when it comes to flying or my avatar’s crab-crawl walk. I find that the educational uses all seem good on paper, but I wouldn’t want to have to use this thing to take a class.
However, a lot of the people in the class that I’m taking think that we “millenials” are only capable of learning online. We’re “always” on the interwebs, we must want to learn using these mediums.
My question is: Do any of you currently use Second Life? Or have you used it in the past? Would you use this for an extended period of time to learn, or is it just a glorified chat room?
Opinions, comments, rants are much appreciated.
These adorable little creatures are Honduran White Bats, one of the many threatened species on the IUCN’s red list.
So I decided to give the Google Chrome browser a try… It’s as minimal as they claim, though I think I could do without the bright blue design; otherwise, it’s very sleek and clutter free. Some neat features, the one-size-fits-all address bar and the stealthy “Incognito” browser option… I’m sure every guy I know will like that one
.
It’s also supposed to make your browsing experience a lot faster. I’m on a fast connection at home, so no difference there, but it did make my sites load quickly when I was connected to the school network (which can be a bit slow at times).
I still love my Firefox, but this makes for a nice alternative.
I am so tired that it took about five tries before I was able to correctly enter my WP login info…
I’m going to go out like a very out think in a moment, but before I log off…
I finally managed to get Em’s blog up and running… It’s a Blogger powered blog, but it’s my very first original Blogger-ready layout. Am quite pleased actually and glad that Em likes it. Just a few minor glitches to work out, but that’s for a later day.
In January I found a dollar with a link to the “Where’s George?” currency tracking project, so I entered it and found that I was the first person to register the bill (it looked really crisp and clean, so it must have been fairly new). Yesterday, I received an email letting me know that my bill had been entered again, this time in Louisianna… It traveled 649 miles to get there, I wonder what happened in between, that’s quite a few states that it had to cross. It’s kind of neat
I have been hooked on Colour Lovers ever since I stumbled across the site a couple of months ago, so I finally took the plunge and colored a pattern of my own.
Here it is:
